This unit discusses the nature of professions and the legal profession in particular, with its attendant responsibilities. It emphasises the importance of ethical analysis in understanding those professional responsibilities, before discussing in detail the legal and ethical responsibilities which practising legal professionals need to reconcile, including both duties owed to the client and to the court. The unit also discusses the institutional framework and disciplinary processes governing the legal profession, and a lawyer's duties in relation to the handling of client's funds and the maintainance of trust accounts. -- Course Website
